Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Ailo Digital collects when you use this website or get in touch, why we need it, and what you can do about it. We only collect what we need.

Who we are

Ailo Digital is a web design and digital marketing business based in Lancashire, UK. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can contact us about privacy at hello@ailodigital.co.uk.

What we collect

• Enquiries: your name, email address, phone number, company and anything you tell us in our contact or services forms.
• Client onboarding: if you are a client, the details about your business you give us in our onboarding questionnaire.
• Free site check: the website address you enter, which we use to run the check. We do not store it.
• Partner referrals: contact details you send us when introducing a client.
• Website use (only if you accept analytics cookies): which pages you visit, how you arrived, your rough location (town or region), and your device and browser type.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use this site, so we can improve it. It only runs if you click Accept on our cookie message. If you click Reject, or do nothing, no analytics cookies are set.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by a code. They store a random ID so repeat visits can be counted. We have turned off Google signals and advertising features, and we do not use this data for advertising.

Google Analytics keeps this data for no more than 14 months. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw, we stop analytics and remove its cookies from this site.

The site also keeps two small settings in your browser: your cookie choice, and whether you have closed our offer banner. These are not used for tracking.

How we use it

• To reply to you and talk about the work you are interested in.
• To plan, build and deliver your project if you become a client.
• To send invoices and keep business records.

We never sell your information. We will only send you marketing emails if you have asked us to, and every email lets you opt out.

Our legal basis

We use your details because you asked us to get in touch or to provide a service (contract), because we have a legitimate interest in replying to business enquiries, or because the law requires us to keep certain records. For analytics cookies, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the website: Vercel, which hosts the site, Resend, which delivers emails from our forms, and Google, which provides Google Analytics if you accept analytics cookies. Google may process this data outside the UK. They only use your information to provide their service to us. We do not share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted within 2 years. Client records are kept for 6 years after our work ends, to meet tax and accounting rules.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@ailodigital.co.uk and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
