What we hear from salon owners

And what we do about each one.

“Treatwell takes a big cut of every new client.”

Treatwell says it charges commission on a client’s first appointment, and UK guides put that at 35% plus VAT. A client can count as new again after a year away. People who already follow you or search your name should be able to book with you direct, so your own booking link goes front and centre.

“All my bookings come through Instagram DMs.”

Answering messages at 10pm is not a booking system. We link the booking tool you already use, such as Fresha, Booksy, Phorest, Timely or Square, or help you choose one, so clients pick a service and a slot without messaging you.

“No-shows and last-minute cancellations cost me.”

Your deposit and cancellation policy shown clearly before anyone books, with reminders sent by your booking system. Clients accept a fair policy when they see it up front.

“Everyone messages to ask how much things cost.”

A price list on the page as real text, with from prices and how long each service takes. It cuts the “how much is…” messages and helps Google and AI tools match you to what people search for.

“My best work is buried in my Instagram grid.”

A gallery on your own site, sorted by service, that loads fast on a phone. Real, unfiltered photos of your work, which is also what the advertising rules expect.

“Clients turn up without their patch test.”

Booking pages that explain skin tests clearly: when to come in, how long before the appointment and why. For hair colour, manufacturers’ guidance is an allergy alert test at least 48 hours before.

What you get

Built into every salon site

Book in a few taps

Your booking system linked from every page, so clients book straight into the diary you already use. Deposits are taken by your booking system, not a separate form.

Price list as text

Services, from prices and durations, grouped the way you work. Easy to update, easy to read on a phone and easy for search engines to understand.

Gallery by service

Nails, colour, lashes, brows, cuts. Fast-loading photos, and before and afters only where they are genuine and you have the client’s consent.

Meet the team

Each stylist or therapist with their specialisms, qualifications and their own booking link, so regulars can book the person they want.

Google set up with a Book button

Your Business Profile linked to your booking system where it is supported, with services, prices, photos and the right categories.

Structured data for your salon

Marked up as a hair salon, nail salon or beauty salon, with your hours, services and price range, so Google and AI tools describe you correctly.

Straight talking

No salon case study yet. Here is how we would approach yours.

We would rather be straight with you than fill this space with logos. Every salon site we build starts with one test: can someone who has just found you on Instagram see your work, check a price and book, all in under a minute on their phone?

Getting it right

Rules beauty websites often get wrong

None of these are difficult, but they are easy to miss. We build them in as standard. It is a summary, not legal advice.

Filters and edited photos

In 2021 the ASA ruled that beauty filters are misleading in ads when they exaggerate what a product or treatment does. That includes your own posts and website. Show your work unfiltered.

Laser and IPL claims

“Permanent” and “painless” need strong evidence, and the ASA has upheld complaints against both. Say whether a treatment is laser or IPL, and do not imply the same results for every skin and hair type.

Skin tests

Hair colour manufacturers’ instructions call for an allergy alert test at least 48 hours before colouring. Lash and brow tints usually carry similar instructions. Your booking pages should make this clear before people book.

Council registration

Semi-permanent make-up and microblading, electrolysis, cosmetic piercing and tattooing need registering with your local council under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 where it applies. Lancaster City Council, for example, registers both the premises and each practitioner.

Reviews

Since April 2025, fake reviews, and reviews you have paid or rewarded people for without saying so, are banned under UK consumer law. Ask every happy client, but never buy or swap reviews.

Licensing is coming

The government confirmed in August 2025 that it will license some non-surgical cosmetic treatments in England. It is not yet in force and the full list of treatments has not been published. We build your site so it is easy to show a licence when one is needed.

FAQ

Questions we get asked.

Something else on your mind? Ask us and we will reply within one working day.

How much does a salon website cost?

Our Starter site (up to 8 pages) starts from £799 and our Growth site (up to 15 pages) from £1,499. Both are fixed-price quotes with hosting included. You own the site, the domain and the content, and there is no contract.

Can my website connect to Fresha, Booksy or Treatwell?

Yes. Most salon booking systems give you a booking link or a widget we can put on every page. Clients book straight into the same diary you already use, and deposits and reminders keep working as they do now.

Do I still need Treatwell or Fresha’s marketplace?

That is up to you. Marketplaces can bring in new clients. The point of your own website is that people who already know you, from Instagram, Google or a friend, can book you direct without the booking going through the marketplace.

Can I show before-and-after photos?

Yes, if they are genuine, unfiltered, typical of the results most clients get and you have the client’s consent. Do not use filters or editing that exaggerate the result. The ASA has ruled against that.

Will a website help me show up on Google Maps?

Map results come mainly from your Google Business Profile, ranked on relevance, distance and prominence. Your website supports that, and we set up your profile properly as part of the build, but nobody can honestly guarantee a position.

I work from home or a rented room. Do I have to show my address?

Not if clients do not come to you. If they do visit, Google needs your address to show you on the map. If you trade as a limited company, your registered office address must appear on your website, and that can be an accountant’s address.

How long does it take?

Most salon sites are live within two to three weeks once we have your price list, photos and booking link.

Tell us about your business. We will tell you what it needs.

A free 30-minute call, then a fixed price in writing. If a website is not the right next step for you, we will say so.
